it's all about perspective

Lately I have doing a lot of thinking about this magical word "PERSPECTIVE." What it means to me, what it may mean to other, what I think other may think it means...
But when I really get down to it, the most important is WHAT IS MEANS TO ME. What is my perspective on this thing we call "life." What around me through space and time has and will effect my perspective on this life? What have my eyes seen that yours haven't that changes my outlook on my life and my surroundings?
There was a really great quote I read the other day that made me think about my perspective even more (in terms of travel).
"Why do you go away? So that you can come back. So that you can see the place you came from with new eyes and extra colors. And the people there see you differently, too. Coming back to where you started is not the same as never leaving.”
― Terry Pratchett, A Hat Full of Sky
The part that really got me thinking was not only leaving, but coming back to a place you know so well, maybe your hometown and now seeing it with "new eyes" or "new/ extra colors."
This is a very profound thought that I try to take with me everyday.
I feel I get a lot of subliminal criticism for leaving home, family, friends, etc. and loving to travel.
What I mean by this is, at times, although I haven't ABSOLUTLEY forgotten Western ways, but in Korea, I had learned new ways of doing things, which I had adapted into my life. Coming back to Canada, (with new eyes, seeing in new colors), I tend to still want to do things the way I had done for the past 3 years in Korea, but my family and friends do not get it. Now that I am back, although I have some stories to share with them (non-relatable stories), they assume everything is back to 2013 for me. And for the most part, it was and still is a tough transition that many in my group do not understand.
They do not understand my new perspective on my life and my surroundings. This makes being home a draining process most of the time. Out of every situation though, I try to learn and make the most of it, to further add to a new perspective understand those around me with a different lens.
So I encourage you all, no matter where you are from, or what you have done, to challenge yourself and look at your life or friends lives with a different perspective. With new eyes, with new colors.
