So it's true! I will be heading back to South Korea!
After almost a full year away from the and of kimchi and rice, I am signed up to go back. It has always been in my head to go back, and no better time than the present to head back. Although I don't have a departure date yet, it is looking like it will be roughly February 21 or 22, 2017.
*For anyone planning to go to Korea without a recruiter. Here is a link to hep you obtain your E-2 visa.

I am definitely heading back with a much clearer mind and way more direction than in 2013. I have a way better understanding of self, which I think is super important for all of us to have.
I remember when I first moved home in June, I felt so awkward around people who have been in life for that past 26 years. Although the love/friendship/ family wasn't lost, it was different. It bothered me a lot. I remember asking myself "Why does no one want to engage in my travel stories, or ask me about my past 3 years?" And I get it now. Late October, early November 2016 it all clicked. "Why would anyone really give a fuck about what I did, if they have no real interest in doing it themselves?" Other than being empathetic, there is no reason for them to care. The exact same reason why I don't really care about settling down and buying a house. AND THAT IS FINE.
Once I was able to accept this, my mind was clear and I was more self-aware of my passion of travel and teaching. No one has to really care or like what I do, as long as I do. And if no one in my hometown is really interested in it, that's fine, because the journey I am on, I know people will be.
Moving forward with roughly 4 weeks before departure, I have a lot of housekeeping to do as well as obtain my visa.
For anyone out there who is in need of this conversation around travel, or teaching overseas, or vegabonding, please email me.

The "nomadic life" isn't for everyone, but it is for me, for now.
