For anyone who is looking to move to South Korea and wants to know how to attain an e-2 visa. Here it is from a non-recruiter. Do it with AS MUCH TIME IN ADVANCE AS YOU CAN!
Step 1:
1) Gather your university degree and have it notarized.
2) Get a criminal background check (fingerprints are best)
3) Get your university transcripts
4) Photocopy your passport page
Send all of that to the Korean Consulate nearest you. If you have to mail it, be prepared for it to take up to 2 weeks until you receive your documents back. While you are waiting, make sure to gather four 35mm x 45mm passport photos.
Step 2:
After you receive your documents back,
1) Send all the documents you have received from the consulate
2) Send 4 passport photos
3) Complete the health form found on the Korean Consulate Wesbsite
4) Complete the visa issuance form found on the Korean Consulate Wesbite
They can be found here...
5) Send a copy of your resume
Because I am in a time crunch, I had to send my UPS WORLDWIDE SAVER (EXPRESS).
Once the school receives your documents, they must go to the immigration office and apply for a visa issuance number.
Not too sure how long that takes, but they say 4-10 days. I am hoping it takes 2 ;)
Step 3:
Once you receive your issuance number you will need to submit this to the Korean Consulate:
1) Passport - you must send your actual passport for us to attach the visa onto itPhotocopy of passport
2)Filled out visa application (download from the website's main page) with visa issuance number written in and passport photo taken in the last 6 months glued on
3) $78 application fee in cash or Money Order
All of this information can be found a the link above. This is for anyone who is looking for extra information if you are anxious like me :)
