So one of the coolest things about Korea is that they have sauna rooms that you can sleep in over night. It is a very unique experience as I feel that many other countries do no offer the sauna and sleep combination.

A #jjimjilbang is a large, gender-segregated public bathhouse in Korea, furnished with hot tubs, showers, Korean traditional saunas and massage tables. Jjimjil is derived from the words meaning heating. In other areas of the building or on other floors there are unisex areas, usually with a snack bar, ondol-heated floor for lounging and sleeping, wide-screen TVs, exercise rooms, ice rooms, heated salt rooms, PC bang, noraebang, and sleeping quarters with bunk beds or sleeping mats. Many of the sleeping rooms have themes or elements to them. Usually jjimjilbangs will have various rooms with temperatures to suit guests' preferred relaxing temperatures. The walls are decorated with woods, minerals, crystals, stones, and metals to make the ambient mood and smell more natural. The elements used have traditional Korean medicinal purposes in the rooms.

Most jjimjilbangs are open 24 hours and are a popular weekend getaway for Korean families. During the week, many hardworking #Korean men, whose families live out of the city for cost savings, stay in jjimjilbangs overnight after working or drinking with co-workers late into the night. The cost is around 8,000-12,000 won to enter, and one can sleep overnight and enjoy the bathhouse and sauna. - This is taken from Wiki https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jjimjilbang

Here is the common room where people can gather and chat, sleep, play board games, etc.

One very unique thing I saw this time, was a group of teenagers who gathered at the Jjimjilbang to do a class project. This was fascinating to because when I had a project in high school, I would just invite my friends over or vice versa. Well in Korea, most people live in apartments of various sizes so not all of them would have enough space for 6 teenagers to work on a group project. The jjimjilabng is the perfect place for them to gather and get their work done. (They even had their own paper cutter!)

You can choose from many room to sleep in. Here are some of the sounds that you might here in a sleeping room.

Almost everyone in this room was snoring or making some awful breathing sound. I couldn't sleep here anymore so I had to go back to the common room.

Also at the Jjimjilbang you can order a tradtional rice drink called shikgae. It cost 2,500 Won.

You can also order many #snacks and #drinks, from eggs to beer!

One of the most fun things to do at the #jjimjilbang is wear a towel on your head and fit in like a local. Usually Koreans's wear it like ram horns, but I couldn't figure out the method to make it.

This Jjimjilbang is located in Yangjae! It is one of favorites in Korea!

Here is a Naver link to the location.

The best way to get here is to train or bus to or near Yangjae and then take a taxi. Every taxi driver knows this jjimjilbang!

If you live in Korea, or plan on visiting, you MUST go to a jjimjilbang! Again, it a truly a unique Korean experience.
