So it's that time of year. Whether you've completed your one year, 4 years, or decade, it's time to collect that wonderful pension that you have been paying into for some time.
For those of you who live in the Bundang area, Yatap station is the best place for you to go file to collect your pension.
Depending on how arrive to Yatap:
subway: exit 4
bus: Yatap Station- HomePlus side
Walk towards HomePlus and follow that street all the way down until you see this sign.

Continue in that direction cross the intersection. Keep walking until you find the Korean Institute of Design Promotion. Outside looks like this.

Enter this building and walk straight until you find the glass elevators.

Go up to the 4th floor. Once you walk out of the elevator, turn right and walk straight.

There will be someone to greet you at the door and tell them "LUMP SUM."
They will know you are filing for pension. They will help you pull a number and you wait.

*Important*
Before going to file for your pension, here are the documents you need!
Also DO NOT go to file for pension until ONE MONTH before your flight.
For example, my flight is on March 6, so I should not go anytime sooner than February 6 (I know this from experience as I tried to file in January and go denied).
1) A one-way ticket out of the country.
2) Your ARC CARD
3) Your PASSPORT
4) Your SOCIAL INSURANCE NUMBER
5)) Your home country (ex. Canadian) banking information all on ONE page with your NAME on it (it can be a blank cheque or bank statement) and the following detail
- ACCOUNT NUMBER
- ROUTING NUMBER
- INSTITUTION NUMBER
- BANK ADDRESS
- for Americans (SWIFT CODE)
It is a pretty painless process.
It takes about 3-4 weeks to process your money into your account, so be patient.
This will be from 2 weeks after your last day.
For example, I am completing my contract on
February 27th, so they will wait for the next pay to go out in the school on March 10, and then submit so that you will get the full 12 months of pension.
Enjoy your pension, or save it, or do what I will do and go backpack Southeast Asia.
